Would HIV have been detected?
Hi I’ve been reading other answers and seen that yous have said a week after seroconversion symptoms that a test would be positive, are you referring to the biosure self test?
I recently took a test 7-8 weeks after possible exposure and it was negative, my symptoms finished around 2 weeks ago so if I did have hiv would it have been detected?

Hi JOE001, if the symptoms you have experienced were a cause of HIV seroconversion then your result would have appeared positive however there is no way of saying that this is definitely the case. You will still need to retest at 12 weeks to confirm your negative result. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd

So if my symptoms completely finished 2 weeks ago and my test has come back negative then it can be relied upon?
I had symptoms of headache, sore throat, mouth ulcer, fatigue, swollen lymph glands etc . I related these from looking online to acute hiv symptoms, is acute hiv and seroconversion the same

Hi Joe001. Yes, I am referring to the BioSURE HIV self test when I say a week after symptoms (if related to HIV) you would generate a positive line. However there is no way to pinpoint whether or not the symptoms are a direct cause of HIV seroconversion. If your symptoms were due to your body producing antibodies to HIV then you would have got a positive result however there is no way of saying that is the case. What I would recommend doing is moving forward making informed choices and simply retesting at 12 weeks to confirm your negative result alternatively you could visit a GUM clinic as they will be able to look for antigens as well as antibodies. I hope this makes sense and thank you for choosing BioSure. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
