Worried out of my mind!

Almost two years ago I had stupidly unprotected sex with a ‘friend’ of mine. Totally out of character for me and I knew I was clear of STDs before sleeping with him. He, knowingly or not, passed on chlamydia and HSV which I found out about when I went to a doctors appointment after awful sores appeared all over my vagina. Because this was only a week or two after exposure, I couldn’t take a full STD blood test as I would’ve likely got false negative results. I have put off having this test for two years as I was so afraid (he is of African decent and also apparently is quite sexually risky). Thankfully my result came out as negative today and now I can finally put my mind to rest. Can you please confirm that my negative result is accurate so I can forget about this once and for all. Thanks BioSURE

Hi G Thanks for getting in touch. I'll try and help. Your negative test result is reliable. The test was taken more than 3 months after possible infection, so we can very confidently say that if you had an HIV infection the test would have picked it up evidence of it. Whilst no test is going to be right all of the time, in your case I would strongly recommend that you put this concern behind you in the knowledge that you know your HIV status. I hope that this helps to ease your concerns. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited
