Hi G Thanks for getting in touch with us. Unfortunately, the time limit for early detection has little to do with how sensitive the test is. The device looks for antibodies to HIV rather than HIV itself and this is why there is a detection delay. There is a very large variation in the time point at which different people create the antibodies. Some make them after 3 weeks, unfortunately some not until 12 weeks after infection. At 18 days post infection less than 20% of people will have the antibodies. So regardless of how sensitive the test is, the test can't detect something that isn't there. I hope that this helps. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited

Hi I know you have to wait 3 months for a conclusive result but how accurate would a biosure test be 18 days after exposure. Or at least what percentage of people would test positive within 18 days from exposure? Surely these tests are very sensitive? Regards G

Hi Carl Thanks for getting in touch. Sometimes the test can take slightly to run particularly if you haven't pushed the device completely into the buffer solution. This won't necessarily mean that the test has not worked correctly. As long as one line appears in the upper part of the test strip (the Control Line) then the test has worked as expected. Regardless of how long the test might have taken to run. I hope that this helps. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited

Hi JohnDo Thanks for getting in touch. The answer depends on which clinic you go to. One thing to clarify, the BioSURE HIV Self Test detects antibodies to HIV. Some clinics in the UK use laboratory tests that can detect HIV antibodies and HIV antigens. This means that these laboratory tests can detect HIV slightly sooner than any self test. However, there is no difference in accuracy of result. The BioSURE HIV Self Test has gone through a number of very stringent regulatory approvals and has been independently proven to be as accurate as any rapid test that is available. I hope that this answers your question. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited
