Symptoms - so worried

Hi

Hope you can please help….

My possible exposure was with a CSW 27 days ago, this was protected oral and vaginal and far as I remember the condom did not fail. Started experiencing aches in my legs approx 7 – 10 days after possible exposure. I took a biosure test yesterday which was negative. My questions: What were my chances of contracting?  If my slight pains are due to infection (had the pains now for 2 weeks minimum) would yesterday’s test of been positive?

I’m really worried please help…

I called THT they said I had no risk and advised that I don’t need to take a test, but I’m extremely worried and anxious, please help…

Thank you

Hi Soworried. The chances of contracting HIV through protected sex are very low, virtually impossible whilst using barrier contraception. Also, it is highly unlikely that seroconversion symptoms would occur 7-10 days post exposure, it takes around 21 days for the antibodies to appear. It cannot be said that these are/are not a cause of seroconversion however if they are then after 27 days the test would have detected the antibodies. I hope this makes sense. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
