stored below 8 degrees celcius

Hi. I tested negative but I’m worried that it is a false negative. I left the bio sure test kit in my car for about 24 hours. Temperature outside was probably 1 degree. Brought the test inside the house and tested myself. I followed the instruction properly. The control line showed up at around 3 minute time and that was the only line that appeared after 15 minutes. I’m worried that the kit was damaged from storing it below 8 degrees. And got a false negative result. Could you get a false negative result from this? How accurate was my result? Do I need to test again? If the kit was damaged, wouldn’t the test supppsed to show an invalid result (no control line). I have read in one comment that one got a false positive from storing it above 30 degrees. Thank you so much.

Hi Cookies, From re-reading your previous comment, from the description of your test it doesn't sound like the BioSure HIV self-test. Can I ask what type of test you have used? Kindest regards, Becky, BioSURE UK LTD

Hi Cookies, Please do not read your result before 15 minutes or after 1 hour. Your negative result is conclusive (if you tested outside of the window period). Due to the nature of the test, any result 5 days later is not accurate. Kindest regards, Becky, BioSURE UK LTD

Hy I tested negative and I kept the kit. After 5 days I checked it out and it had line bending from T and dark line at C. Am I positive?

Hi store8, Okay, then you are definitely outside of the window period and your negative result is conclusive. The lancet is sealed within the pouch before the manufacturing process begins. During the manufacture of the test, there is a 100% visual inspection of the pouches where they are additionally weighed. If a pouch happened to be missing a lancet, this would be picked up during the weighing process and would be rejected immediately. There is absolutely no chance that the lancet could have been outside of the pouched device. In addition to this, the lancet is only single use. If you managed to click the lancet onto your finger and the spring fired, then you know that this is the first time that it has been used. Kindest regards, Becky, BioSURE UK LTD

My last exposure was 5 months ago. Additional question aswell, is there a possibility of getting HIV from an infected lancet? I couldn't remember if the lancet was inside the foil pack or was just inside the box. The box was sealed with the gold strip still intact. I was able to use the lancet to prick myself so does that mean that it hasn't been use before? Sorry, I know I should be happy with my negative result, but I'm full of anxiety again and loads of what ifs questions. Thanks again.

Hi store8, Our test has been through numerous validation tests whereby the tests have been stored at various temperatures to assess the correct storage method. As long as you bought your test inside and performed your test in room temperature then your result would not have been affected. Storing your test in a colder temperature may just mean that your test runs a little bit slower. Also, as long as you read your result after 15 minutes then your negative result is accurate. Storing your test in your car overnight in a low temperature surrounding would not have given a false negative result. Our test is 99.7% accurate and as long as you tested outside of the 12 week window period then your result is conclusive and you do not need to retest. Yes you are right in thinking that if your test was affected by storage/temperature then you would not have received a strong control line. I hope this information helps, if you have any other questions please feel free to leave them in the thread below and I will be happy to answer them. Many thanks, Becky BioSURE UK LTD
