Can having another unknown condition or sti e.g. syphillis cause the biosure test to show a false negative? Also can you have antigens with no antibodies?

I want to understand something, if a person is on ART and test using Biosure, the test won't pick up the antibodies?

Hi worry X, the bodies initial response to the HIV virus (antigen) is to produce antibodies. Having another STI would not change the result of your BioSure test, there are really only two things that can affect the result of a BioSure HIV self test. The first being on anti-retroviral treatment for HIV and the other would be if you have been vaccinated against HIV. I hope this helps put your mind at rest. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK Ltd)
