Smudged line - anxiety

Hi, I tested at home yesterday, I don’t think I used enough blood as couldn’t see it moving up the strip after 3 minutes, but pushed it further down and waited the 15mins. I could see one faint line after the 15minutes but after a while the line looked as if it had smudged or ran so right underneath the line there is colour…is this normal? I would think a second line would show much further down on the test?

Hi Gals67, The control line can smudge slightly but this is simply due to the nature of the lateral flow design. You are right in thinking it is not a second line - the test line is positioned approximately half a cm down from the control line. As long as there is no line where the test (positive) line would be then your result is negative. Kindest regards, Becky
