Sero conversion

Why do some people sero convert later than others? I took a biosoure test at 6weeks and it was negative,so I am wondering if it is likely to change

Hi Worriedguy2019, there is no reason why some people seroconvert later than others, it is just how individuals bodies work. At 6 weeks 95% of people would have produced the antibodies to HIV (which is very high) however at 12 weeks this increases to 99.9% which is why we say a test can only be deemed conclusive 12 weeks post exposure. Although the result is unlikely to change I would recommend retesting at 12 weeks just to put your mind at rest and put the incident behind you. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
