Reuse of Test Device

Hi
I know it is not possible, but to clear my mind, need to check.

Assuming if a person who has hiv tests the device and if a non-hiv person pricks the launcet and tries to use the same test device which fills the blood, is there any chance that the second person might be infected as the test device does have the first person blood and that can enter into second person pricked finger.

boxes - two types
 on 14th February 2017

Hi I ordered twice, one for me and one for my friend. I seem to have received in big box and my friend received small box. My friend told that the box was sort of sealed with small gum and the inside pouch was also sealed where all the test device, launcet etc was there. In my case also the inside of the box content pouch was sealed where i need to tear it open . But my concern was that since i received big box, it was not having any sort of seal or gum and just opened normally. Hope this doesn't mean that mine is defective box. However i can confirm that the inside pouch that contains all test device, plaster, launcet were all sealed . This is making me restless. Please do confirm whether it is ok :)

Hi Taurus79 There is no possibility that the device can have been used by someone else before it gets to you. I completely understand your question but I can absolutely assure you that this is nothing for you to be concerned about. Kindest Gary

Hello Gary Thanks for the email. I did not reuse the test device. But i was paranoid that someone else have already used and i got the used one. So was double checking whether the test device is even possible to collect blood when touched for a reused one and if so when i reuse whether I will get infected with virus. Sorry for being silly, but you can understand my concerns for being so paranoid and anxiety.

Hi taurus79 Thank you for getting in touch. THE TEST MUST NOT BE USED TWICE. Firstly, the lancet can only be used once. Once it has been triggered the internal mechanism is disabled and the lance completely retracts into the plastic casing. Secondly, the test device CANNOT be used again. Once the test has run the strip is fixed and will not work. But more importantly it would then contain someone else's blood. If you touch the device to an open wound you could very well expose yourself to a whole range of possible infectious agents. I hope that this answers your question. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited
