Read the result to early ?

Hello ! My last potential exposure was a year ago when I gave unprotected oral sex to my boyfriend (no ejaculation/not sure about pre-cum)
I was so nervous when I took the self-test that I forgot to check the time. I believe I have read the result at around 10 minutes instead of 15 as indicated before throwing away the test. The result was negative. How reliable or unreliable would the result be ? Thank you

Hi Anonymous002, We say to never read your result before 15 minutes as there is a chance that a result is not visible yet. It is hard for me to confirm your result given the read time. However, given that your exposure was around 1 year ago, I would say that if you were to have been infected, there would be antibodies present in your blood and it is likely that there would be somewhat a test line before the 15 minute read time. Unprotected oral sex is considered low risk but I would recommend that if you are still worried, to retest as I cannot 100% confirm a result read outside of the read time. I hope this helps. Kindest regards, Becky
