I had a risky encounter with another man (I cheated on my wife) since then I had symptoms for HIV but tested negative after 26 weeks. Is it safe to have unprotected sex again with my wife and be sure I can’t pass HIV on to her?
Many thanks

Hi. If you have had symptoms for HIV then a test would come back with a reliable result. The BioSURE HIV self test is reliable from 12 weeks after possible exposure. Our test looks for antibodies; people show symptoms when their body produces antibodies, so if you have used a BioSure test after these symptoms, you would have made the antibodies and got a positive result. We don't judge anyone ever because everybody lives their life but you may want to consider having a full sexual health screen, even if this is just to put your mind at rest. I hope this helps!
