Need explained as not clear

So this is slightly confusing and isnt really explained. This gives you your status based on what it was at 3 months ( the time of having unprotected sex) so does this mean that you actually need to test at 6 months to get a true status which will reveal your status at 3 months? Can anyone explain

Hi Explanation, I hope I am able to help you. The BioSURE HIV self test gives you your status at the time you test not what it was 3 months ago. The reason we say to test at 12 weeks/3 months is because some people seroconvert (produce antibodies to HIV) later than others. Our test looks for antibodies to HIV rather than the virus itself. There will be no need to re-test at 6 months unless you had another possible exposure. I hope this makes sense but please don't hesitate to contact me further. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
