Hi Am I Being Silly An indeterminate test does not mean positive, but you should resolve it. The most important thing is that you will know your HIV status. HIV is only a problem if you don't know your status. There are more than 18 million people worldwide benefitting from being on treatment. Treatment leads to undetectable virus levels, no onwards transmission and excellent health outcomes. Not knowing your HIV status gives none of those benefits. I am sure that the previous two results are both correct. But you need to be sure for your own sake. The HIV self test is easy to perform and you don't have to do it on your own. Please let me know how you get on. You can always contact me directly by email, gcarpenter@biosure.co.uk. Kindest Gary

I have bought a kit but I don't get it til tommorow and I doubt if I will have guts to do it as I'm shitting bricks and I have spoken to some one who works at one pf the clinics I have been to and he has sed that I did not need to retest because my 7 week and 9 week result was conclusive but after that inderterminant I'm going out of my mind

Hi Am I Being Silly Thanks for coming back to me. Again it is difficult to be prescriptive but I would go back to whoever performed the last test and demand that the test is repeated. Until the "indeterminate" result is resolved you will not have peace of mind. As I said the series of negative results is extremely encouraging but you need to know for certain. The only way to resolve this would be to test again. You could always go to a clinic that provides rapid HIV tests (information here: https://sxt.org.uk/) or you could order an HIV Self Test (order from here: https://hivselftest.co.uk/). Once again I'm sorry that I can't fully resolve your question but hopefully this will help to answer them. Kind regards Gary

Thank you for replying , it was a blood sample sent off to the lab. since my unprotected sex in march I have kept myself protected and have only been with one person my partner who has tested negative for hiv , my indeterminant test result has come 17 weeks after I had unprotected sex how is it possible to have two negative results and then my third test weeks later be indeterminant , I've had no symptoms of hiv and even though I'm aware many can have no symptoms at all wouldn't my test at 9 weeks after unprotected sex indicate there was a problem also my partner does not have any symptoms either and his tests are also negative my last hiv test before these recent tests was in 2010 and I had been with someone for seven years all those tests where negative to

Hi Am I being silly Thanks for getting in touch and no you are not being silly. Your HIV status is a very important thing to know for sure. It is difficult to be prescriptive without knowing more about your recent testing history, so it is really only possible to make general comments. Firstly the negative results that you have are very encouraging. It is unusual to get an "inderterminant" HIV test. Was the result invalid or could the person testing you not determine whether the test was reactive (positive) or non-reactive (negative)? Do you know what sort of test was performed? Was it a rapid point of care test or was a sample sent of to a lab for further analysis and you were given your results later? Given what you have said I would recommend retesting for HIV. Although it is probably best to wait for a few weeks before repeating the testing process. I hope that this helps and sorry that I can't give you a more definitive answer. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited
