I met a girl, we kissed

I met a girl, we kissed then we did romance but no sex, we keep doing it for two weeks before I traveled. One week later she called me and was like she has a secret to tell me that she is HIV positive. I was scared like mad and immediately I started having the symptoms like fever, stomach pain, I went for test, it was negative. I was very happy, almost 2weeks again, the fear came back, I went for test in another center and it was negative. Now I’m still afraid because the doctor said the pain in my stomach was ulcer and the fever was as a result of malaria. He advised me not to test again or worry about it since the girl in question is taking her medication and it ll since sex was not involved.

Hi Ferdinand, From your description of the exposure, I would also agree with the doctor by saying that you should not worry. HIV cannot be transmitted through saliva i.e. by kissing, so unless you have had unprotected oral, vaginal or anal sex then there is no risk. The symptoms you have described are likely to be related to anxiety or stress as a result of being told that someone you have been intimate with has HIV. However, since she is on medication and there was no sexual intercourse you should not be worried at all. I hope this helps to put your mind at rest. Kindest regards, Becky.
