HIV infection?

I had unprotected sex in January the 23rd/24th to be exact. I have been stressing since that day of being infected as I think the person lied to me about their HIV status. I have tested myself 4 weeks after possible infection which came back negative. Then I tested my self again about 6 weeks afterwards which were also negative. Then again at a clinic they did a antibody one which came back negative. Also after that I tested myself on day 57 / 8 weeks after possible infection which where a laboratory test for p24 antigen and antibodies which also came back negative. I have experienced gland swollen under ear next top part of jaw and night sweats and leg cramps and stomach pain. However i also suffer from anxiety so I read up all symptoms during this time from the 23rd January to see what the symptoms are etc etc. I am scared and feel bad at this point the glands and night sweats are the worse but the doctors keep on telling me it my stress and anxiety causing it.

Hi Pieter, I believe the symptoms you are describing are much more likely to be caused by stress and worry as opposed to HIV. I am unable to comment on the accuracy in regards to time post exposure of the lab tests as I do not know what tests were used. The BioSURE HIV self test will give you a conclusive negative test result at 12 weeks post exposure so I would recommend doing a confirmatory test at 12 weeks just to help put this incident behind you. However this may not be necessary depending on the lab test used. I hope this helps. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
