Heartburn

I had a test last week and today. Today is day 69. Both my tests were negative. A couple hours later I went to the gym and now have a bit of heartburn. Is this seroconversion? Is this a symptom? I’m extremely worried.

Hi Too scared, although 2 negatives tests at 69 days is extremely reassuring I would like to let you know that a negative result can only be deemed conclusive 12 weeks post exposure. This is due to the nature of the BioSURE HIV self test (only looking for antibodies) and how an individuals immune system responds. At 6 weeks 95% of people have produced these antibodies (would produce a positive line) however at 12 weeks 99.9% of people will have these antibodies. As you can tell from these numbers your result is unlikely to change however I would recommend re-testing at 12 weeks. In regards to your heartburn it could be a cause of many things and is very unlikely to be due to HIV seroconversion however if it was then 7 days after the symptom appeared you would produce a positive test. I hope this makes sense however please don't hesitate to contact me further. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
