False Negative ?

Hi team biosure. i am in need of help or maybe just a little reassurance of some kind i had my exposure 51 weeks ago i have taken countless tests and have been suffering from extreme anxiety and stress my last test (biosure selftest) being at 364days since i had unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse with a girl other then my partner I have tested 15 times :- 6 times at clinics and 9 times were self test. 7 of those 9 self test were biosure, including the one at 364 days post risk. I have told my partner about my risk she was very supportive and we took biosure test together in February 2019. my risk was in june 2018 all test so far have been negative for hiv infection. do you think I need more test as i had various symptoms for the many months after my risk symptoms just gets worse as i google hiv on a daily basis. is it possible all these tests gave false results because I have been having sex with my partner? Or does my test at 365days negative mean I am really free of infection?

Hi Constantly paranoid, thank you for sharing your story and worries with me, I hope I will be able to help. You have done the right thing by testing however now you need to accept your negative result and put the incident behind you. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the other tests due to lack of knowledge however a negative result with the BioSURE HIV self test is deemed conclusive at 12 weeks post exposure. There is no need for you to re-test, the chances of one test giving a false result is extremely low, 7 is virtually impossible. I would recommend not Googling your symptoms as they could be related to anything (most likely stress and anxiety) however they are not a cause of HIV, if these symptoms carry on I would suggest you visit your GP to get a full health check. I hope this helps but please do not hesitate to contact me further. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
