Extremely worried I have HIV

Hello guys

I have signed up to this site as extremely worried about catching HIV.

It started on the 2nd of September,I had unprotected vaginal sex with a 22 Dutch girl. I am in the UK, in an area with very low prevalence of HIV. I asked her if she had anything, and she said she looks after her self. I kept asking, and In the end she blocked me.

I started to get sick on the 19th September, slight fever, headaches, vomiting, diarrhoea, tiredness, trouble sleeping and slight candida in my mouth. The candida only last a day. The other symptoms passed after a couple of days, but the diahorea has been persistent.

On Thursday 26th September, the diarrhoea has subsided but my neck felt hot. And after the next few days my skin felt itchy with no visual rash or marks. Went to the swimming pool and made it worse diarrhoea came back Friday morning, and Monday morning. And last night,I began developing a sore throat and had night sweats!

Now on the 1st of October. Slight sore throat and inflammation of lymph glands. Feel very tired, and ache a lot. This is now 4 weeks after exposure! I am convinced I have HIV!!!! Worried Sick!!!!

Hi FlyingCatfish, I want to start by saying you are doing the right thing by asking questions and looking for help. The symptoms you have described could be due to a number of things (not just HIV) and could also be a cause of extreme stress and worry. I would recommend visiting your GP or a GUM clinic as they will be able to offer you a wide variety of tests which will help put your mind at rest. If you do not wish to visit wither of these and would rather test on your own terms then BioSure is a great option. If this is the option you would prefer I would recommend testing at 6 weeks (if this is negative you would then retest at 12 weeks post exposure to confirm this result). I hope this makes sense but please don't hesitate to contact me again via PEBL or via email (fbard@biosure.co.uk). Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
