Concerned and worried

Hi myself and my wife had a threesome with a guy. We found out afterward that he was in his window period and has been confirmed to be hiv positive. Protection was used but not when we performed oral sex. We both used the biosure self test after 10 weeks and both came back negative. Was wondering should we do another? Whats the accuracy after 10 weeks? Both of us havent experienced any flu like symptoms etc.

Hi Worried Safricans, I'll start by saying protected sex and oral sex are both low risk exposures. A negative test at 10 weeks is extremely reassuring however you will need to re-test at 12 weeks to confirm this negative result although your results are unlikely to change. The accuracy of our test never changes however due to how complex the immune system is some people would seroconvert later than others. I hope this helps and thank you for choosing BioSure. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
