Cheated on wife

Cheated on wife 6 months ago unprotected with a sex worker. Have had 2 test 1) 4th gen ab/ag and and Oraquick test at 3 and 6 months respectively. I am paranoid still I have HIV because of seronegative people. My wife has lost like 40lbs and has butterfly rash on face. I have general malaise, sore throat reoccurring, small circular rashes on arms and legs, and I have had what seems like thrush because of extreme dry mouth and yellow/white spots that bleed when brushed. My possible seroconversion symptoms seemed to start 3 months after sex, a bad cold, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, and drymouth/ thrush which is why I got tested. I am so scared I gave it to my wife even though I have had negative tests. Never cheating ever again and I hope I don’t have it but I may have to face the piper. I have read the literature that says there is a 1/10000 rate of female to male contracting with one sex encounter and have seen that there are only 30 or so case studies of seronegative people but I am still scared to death.

Hi Scared2Death, I hope that I am able to try and put your mind at rest. I am not an expert in general HIV testing and I work for BioSure however as far as I am aware they are both extremely accurate tests (although blood is scientifically more accurate than saliva) and the chances of one test giving a false result is very low. I would recommend contacting the company directly/clinic where you got the test carried out to ask about their accuracy post exposure however I do not believe that 2 tests would be wrong. The symptoms you have described could be due to a number of things and are most likely due to stress, anxiety and worry. If you google search any symptom then the worst result will come up. If I were you I would visit my doctor to get a full health check and diagnose what is causing these symptoms. You will then be able to move forward making more informed choices. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
