chances of false negative

Hi team Biosure,  I had what I thought were symptoms of HIV infection I then used your test at 15 weeks after exposure it was negative I also had the girls I was with test using the Biosure test a week after I used it – both girls were negative. Is there any possibility that all three these could have been false negatives? I had also done a rapid test at a clinic 127 days after the incident that test was also negative..I am suffering from anxiety over this as I am worried about it everyday.

Hi False Worry. The BioSURE HIV Self Test would give you a conclusive and reliable result 15 weeks post possible exposure. The chances of receiving 1 false negative result is extremely low however 3 false negatives is virtually impossible. I am aware that for some people a negative result is just as difficult to accept as a positive result, it is likely that your symptoms are caused by stress and worry. I would recommend against re-testing as a result of this exposure as this is only going to prolong your acceptance of the negative result. I hope this helps and thank you for choosing BioSure, if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact me further. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
