can I truly rely on these results?

About 10 years ago I had unprotected sex, I have been married to my current partner for 7 years and we have 2 children. I became worried when a rash appeared on my face, followed by fatigue. I have just taken your test and it has come back negative, can I truly rely on these results?

Hi Chrissylee1111 Thanks for contacting us. Given your history you can rely on your negative result. When the test is used more than 12 weeks after possible exposure the test is extremely sensitive and will pick up an infection at least 999 times in every 1000 tests. Also given that you have had 2 children you will have been tested for HIV as part of your ante natal care. HIV testing is opt out during pregnancy. I hope that this helps to answer your question and to put you at ease about your HIV status. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited
