Anemia?

Quick questions, I take vitamins because I suffer from anemia, I take Iron on a daily basis and have a vitamin B12 shot every three months, would a person with anemia still give an accurate result. I recently tested negative and now I’m worried as I’ve been reading about blood…… I was told to stop reading stuff on the Internet by the guy on the THT Direct helpline and what do I do….. read the bloody internet :-/

Hi Lacey Thanks for your question. The internet really is a double-edged sword I'm afraid. All that I can say is that there is absolutely no evidence that even suggests that excess vitamin B12 could affect the result of a BioSure HIV Self Test. We would expect that your result would be just as accurate as someone not taking B12. There is no evidence to suggest that any form of underlying anaemic condition would affect the result either. Your negative result is reliable. I hope that this helps. Even though it was delivered through the internet. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited
