Hi Altramarea
The biggest thing that differentiates a self-test from a test that has to be performed by someone on a patient is the instructions for use. This is the main difference between the tests. Our instructions and result reading mechanism were designed from the ground up with the an untrained self tester in mind. All HIV rapid point of care tests have similar levels of biochemical sensitivity and specificity. What sets self-tests apart is the mechanism by which the tester is taken trough the process and is able to read and interpret their result.
And perhaps equally as important is the post test follow up, interaction with testers and the level of customer support that we provide.
I hope that we have proved the value of both of these differences.
Kindest
Gary

Thank you for your answer ,on unitaid.org there are described both tests and they are identical from what generation of test are they, what are they looking for , specificity etc , what is exactly the difference ?I understand that you are promoting BIOSURE and maybe is the best but what is the exact difference ?

Hi Altramarea
Thanks for getting in touch.
The BioSURE HIV Self Test is a 2nd generation HIV test.
The BioSURE HIV Self Test and the Autotest VIH are completely different products. Both tests may share similar components but that is where the similarities end. The components in question are not approved for self test on their own. Creating a product for self test purposes requires a lot of wrap around information to help the user to understand not only how to perform the test but also to be able to accurately read and, most importantly, interpret the result so that the tester knows what action to take next. At BioSure we pride ourselves on the instructions and information that we supply and also our post test customer service.
There are other products available for self testing for HIV. We think that the BioSURE HIV Self Test is the best product available.
Kind regards
Gary Carpenter
