At last i went to the laboratory for HIV test, and it came back positive. After my last sex i never had sex in 3 years. The pain and symptoms getting so bad now that’s why i took the lab test. So now after 3 years and 5 Bio Sure tests negative i am still HIV positive.

Hi Jo, Not necessarily. The likelihood of 5 BioSure tests all being false is extremely unlikely. It is more likely that the home sampling kit was a false positive result. The BioSURE HIV self test has been through numerous performance evaluations to assess the accuracy and reliability etc. Our test is CE marked and we would not be allowed to sell the device unless it meets all the necessary regulatory requirements. False results sometimes do still occur but these are still very rare and usually occur due when users are unable to follow the instructions properly. The BioSURE HIV self-test however has a built in sample control line which essentially means that if the test is not performed properly, the control line will not show and it will be very clear to the end user that the result is invalid. I hope this information helps, I would recommend to get in contact with the supplier of the sampling kit to find out more about their invalid rate. If you are still worried, you can always get a test done at a clinic to help put your mind at rest. Self testing and home sampling is not for everyone, you may feel more reassured if a healthcare professional performs the test. Kindest regards, Becky

Hi Anxious01 Thanks for contacting us again. Unfortunately until we get some more information from Pain60 it is very difficult for us to complete our investigation. I think given the times it's most likely that he got a home sampling remote HIV test. I hope they contact us so that we can complete the investigation. Meanwhile, just for information, each batch of product that we manufacture is independently evaluated to ensure that the test is as sensitive as we say it is, before we can start selling it. The number of antibody negative HIV infected people who are not already diagnosed and on treatment is extremely low. Unfortunately the symptoms of HIV seroconversion are not very specific, especially within the context of the current pandemic. The BioSURE HIV Self Test will pick up HIV-2 infections as well as HIV-1. Clinic based EIA's can be very specific to just one of the types of the virus, so when you go to a clinic or get a home sampling kit, I would make sure that you ask first. I will post any further information we have from the investigation as we get it. Kind regards Gary Carpenter

Hi Gary. Thanks for reply and links to hiv clinics. This is appreciated. It sounded like Pain 60 went to a clinic rather than a home self test kit that they sent off? In any case, we may never know what type of test it was or why it was positive now. I am sure this person has more pressuring concerns on their mind. I wish them the best. But if you find out anything more, it would be good to know, as I am doubting my negative result. I have similar symptons to this person. I am now thinking am I am rare seronegative person (don't produce antibodies), or is it because I think I was exposed to hiv2? I am going to have test at clinic to be sure. Is biosure and 4th gen sensitive to hiv2? Please, I am not sleeping with worry.

Hi Anxious01 I am sorry that you feel anxious about your self-test result. We have had a number of instances this year where home sampling kits have been found to give false positive test results, incorrect, when a BioSURE test has been correctly negative. Every batch of tests that we make is independently validated by a European reference laboratory before we are able to place the devices on the market. I will report back onto this thread if I hear anything different. If you are concerned about your HIV status you should get a confirmatory test undertaken at a recognised HIV clinic. There is a clinic finder link on www.hivselftest.co.uk. Kind regards Gary Carpenter, BioSure (UK) Limited.   . Link to clinic finder :- https://sxt.health/hiv

I am so sorry to hear of your plight. I hope you get the treatment you need. I am worried about my negative biosure result now. Do you know what type of test they did at the laboratory? What type do they do in UK clinics?
