I believe I was exposed to HIV2

I believe I was exposed to HIV2.  I had a Biosure test at 13 weeks negative. Also had a 4th gen test at a gum clinic at 10 weeks which I heard is conclusive. My question is that if I believe I was exposed to HIV 2, are the antigens that they test for the same for HIV 1 and 2?

Hi Answers45, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The BioSURE HIV self-tests looks for antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2. Since you tested outside of the window period using our test, your negative result would be conclusive and if you were to have been exposed to HIV-2 then the test would have detected this and would have shown a positive result. I am unsure of the fourth generation tests, as BioSURE's is second generation, but your negative result using our test is accurate and conclusive. Kindest regards, Becky
