I had a tattoo

I had a tattoo drawn on my body august 10 and a piercing. 1 week after I started feeling fatigue, feverish, muscle aches, headaches and swollen lymph nodes developed on my neck and chin. No sore throat. I went for test 5,6,7,7,9,10 and 12 weeks they were negative. Am surprised to test positive at month 4. How possible is this?

Hi Lao, the reason for your result changing could be due to a number of different factors for example not testing after 12 weeks or having multiple exposures (tattoo parlours will need to use new needles if in UK making risk very low). If it's possible could you please email a picture of your test so I am able to look at this further (fbard@biosure.co.uk). I would also like to recommend getting a confirmatory test as soon as possible but please don't panic as this is the normal process of testing positive. Also the symptoms you are describing could be related to a number of different things and not just HIV. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
