Good day,

More than 3 months ago, i had protected sex but the condom ended up tearing in the end. In the first weeks after exposure i had joint pain, diarrhoea, and fever blisters. They all happen separately not all at once. I went to the hospital at 4 weeks and had a full blood drawn out from my vein and the result was hiv negative, they had given me medicine to calm the pain and fever. At 9 weeks after the exposure i tested again for hiv negative, syphilis and i thought i had herpes because i saw pimples like circle happening on the head of my penis, the doctor told me that it wasn’t herpes or warts, as there were nots blisters or sores and if i had herpes i would definitely feel the symptoms like tingling and itching at the genitals that can sometimes form ulcers. The doctor prescribed me some medicine that included augmentin, penicillin, ibuprofen and some vitamins. My issue is that i know that i am hiv negative as i tested at 4 weeks with full blood drawn out of my vain and 9 weeks with rapid test. However everytime i wake up i feel dizzy, fatigue and mild fever, but the doctor reassured me that i don’t have any bacterial infections like gonorrhea, chlamydia or syphilis because i don’t show any symptoms and even if i had it, the meds that he gave me would have healed me from it already, and said that i will be fine. I even bought a digital thermometer and regularly check my bp, and they seem fine all the time, but why am i feeling like i have fever, dizziness and fatigue sometimes. Do you think that i must go and do a full sti screening or maybe i am just being paranoid that i have something.

Hi Miles. After the number of tests that you have carried out I don't believe that you have an infection. The symptoms you have described could be down to a number of different things and are most likely a cause of stress. I do not believe there is any need to re-test however if you think this will help you move on from the incident then maybe this will be useful. I know this is much easier said than done however I would recommend putting this incident behind you and carrying on with your life. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
