Fantastic service in Bishop’s Stortford and at PAH (but thinks that her pain could maybe have been better managed)

I have two sons – one aged six, and one 16 months, both born at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow. Community midwives in Bishop’s Stortford were fantastic during pregnancy and after birth. My experience at PAH was also fantastic…I don’t understand why people go all the way to the Rosie from Stortford when the care at harlow is so good. My only complaint is that on both occasions I was in a lot of pain as things progressed in labour and I wasn’t monitored frequently enough – so on both occasions I was repeatedly told I was still in very early stages of labour, when in fact things were moving very fast.. the second time around I kept being told i was in very early stages and that we would discuss pain relief later when things had progressed further, and then about an hour later I actually gave birth, having only been given two paracetemol and not having made it to the delivery room (I was in the monitoring room). But on the positive side this meant I recovered very quickly! The care of me and my baby after the births was second to none. I would recommend PAH to any of my friends who were pregnant.
