Very very worried

I really hope you can help. I had protected sex with a CSW on the 16th March, she put the confirm on and performed oral, which after you got on top for a few mins, when she was in on top I felt warm wetness, felt like it must of come out of her.

After this we had sex from behind, I recall the condom was not to the base most likely 2/3 down, Once ejaculating and removing, the condom to the best of my memory seemed intact, I had to roll off to remove.

Couple of weeks later I started feeling a slight ache in my lower glutes and thighs, apart from that I don’t think I have had any other symptoms bar one night of stomach problems and going loo more which could be down to protein shakes.

Now I have a partner, which last Friday I had sex with, she started feeling unwell this Tuesday and last night she had a temperature of 102, achy, swollen glands, this morning her temperature was normal, but is still achy.

My questions are, if the condom failed would it be glaringly obvious to me, are my symptoms consistent with infection and have I passed it on to my partner, can she be showing symptoms less then 7 days since we had sex, also last two days I have been feeling a bit chilly.

I’m really worried, I have made a grave mistake, I have a young family, which I have now ruined due to my selfish and irresponsible behaviour.

I would greatly appreciate any advice from you.

Thank you,

Hi Worried, the exposure you have described is extremely low risk - it would be virtually impossible to contract HIV from this incident. I would recommend trying to move on from the incident with the CSW and just retest at 12 weeks to put your mind at rest. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd

Hi Thank you for your reply I do appreciate it. I did I bio test today which is 4 weeks after possible exposure which was negative.. Baring in mind my exposure was with a csw with protected vaginal intercourse, again to the best of my knowledge the condom was intact, I rolled off to remove. Taking into account the risk exposure and test result, what is your conclusion?? Thank you

Hi Worriedwell35, I will do my best to help you (it's what I'm here for!). Firstly I would like to start by saying that having sex is completely normal, everyone has sex and we are all only here because 2 people had sex. Sex with a condom is extremely low risk as it is a form of barrier contraception. Many symptoms are a cause of something other than HIV, sometimes stress, worry and anxiety alongside Googling your 'symptoms' is enough to convince yourself. Rather than worrying yourself I would recommend you testing for HIV or visiting a GUM clinic to get tested, this is the only way of knowing your status. Whatever the result you need to remember that HIV is a treatable condition and it is not a sentence. I hope this helps put your worry to rest. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
