Using alcohol wipe right before testing

Hello.

I took a test 1 year after my last intercourse. I cleaned my finger with an alcohol wipe. Instead of wiping the first blood drop with a dry cloth, I used the alcohol wipe again. I don’t think my finger was dried when I tested that 2nd blood drop. The test came back negative but I’m afraid that the alcohol either dillutated my blood or destroyed the antibodies to the point that the test result is not reliable. What do you think ?

Thank you.

Hi, Your negative result is reliable. Although you do not need to use anything to clean your finger before performing the test, it is perfectly fine to wipe the area before. Alcohol wipes will not have any effect on the test or result itself. Alcohol will not dilute your blood sample and cannot destroy antibodies. I hope this helps. Kindest regards, Becky
