unprotected oral sex and kiss
Hi I had unprotected oral sex in which I was the receptive. After 3 days I had fever and then sore throat but that passed very quick. After 2 weeks I had 4th generation test which was negative. After 2 weeks I begin to feel soreness in my armpit and pain in my groin. At 52th day I tested again p24 4th generation lab test again and it was negative. I know have swollen lymp nodes on just left side of my neck. My question is my 7 weeks 4th generation test false negative. I know it will be conclusive after 3 months. But at this point can it be false negative? Plz reply coz anxiety is killing me. Thanx

Hi Maxwil,
If you have taken a BioSURE HIV Self test, the window period is 12 weeks (84 days) so your negative result 87 days post exposure would have been accurate and conclusive.

Hi Maxwil,
False negatives usually occur when a user has tested inside of the window period. I am unsure of the rate of false negatives that occur when using 4th generation tests but even when users test inside of the window period, not always will they receive a false result, just that the result cannot be relied upon wholly as it would not be considered as conclusive until after that certain period after infection.
I hope this information helps, if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to get back in contact.
Thank you
Becky
