Routine screen

Hi,

I have had the same boyfriend for 4 years but decided to do a routine screen as I hadn’t tested for HIV before. My previous risk would be prior to my current by. I went for a rapid 4th generation test which came back negative and now 5 weeks later I have tested with Biosure which again was negative. Should I test again and if so when would be best to test?

Very anxious

Hi Anxioustester, If your only possible exposure was from a previous partner of over 4 years ago, a negative result now would be conclusive. A negative result with a 4th gen test is usually conclusive from 4 weeks whilst the window period of the BioSure 2nd gen self-test is 12 weeks. Both of your negative results are extremely reliable and you do not need to retest. I hope this helps. Kindest regards, Becky
