Reliable?
Hi
Had a biosure year at 7, 11, 13, 15 and 16 weeks. Had a sore throat for 7 weeks and doctors want a lab test. Any chance a lab could pick up something biosure hasn’t? How reliable is this test?

Hi Anxiety Y. Numerous studies have been carried out and have proven that 99.9% of people have produced antibodies by 12 weeks, this is a global statistic. There is no need to get the BioSURE HIV self test confirmed by a health care professional, as long as a negative line has appeared your test has worked correctly (this can ONLY appear if the test has worked), again studies across 3 continents have proven this. In regards to the NHS, some trusts do use our test and we are now looking to expand this further. This is where platforms such as PEBL are so important so you can share your worries and get an honest answer. Kindest regards Francesca Bard (BioSure UK Ltd)

Thanks for the reply Francesca.
I’m having trouble trusting this test, not sure whether due to anxiety or whether this hasn’t been done and confirmed by a health worker. As the body doesn’t have a clock how do you know that 12 weeks is sufficient? If this test was advertised by the nhs I think I could feel more confident. Can I rely on this test without a confirmation negative test at a clinic?
Thanks

Hi Anxiety Y. I would like to start by saying that you have done the right thing by testing however you now need to move on from the incident. The chances of one BioSure test giving a false negative 12 weeks post possible exposure is extremely low (1 in 1000), 3 is more or less impossible. The BioSure HIV self test has an extremely high accuracy of 99.7%, a lab test looks for both antigens and antibodies, this is why lab tests can give you a conclusive result before 12 weeks. Post 12 weeks our test wouldn’t miss something. I hope this makes sense and thank you for choosing BioSure. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
