Is a negative result after 3 months conclusive test?!

Hi there,

I feel like I’ve become one of those people seeking reassurance by looking on the internet for answers. I haven’t used your product but I hope you can be of help. Here’s the back story. I had anal sex with a transgender person on two occasions in October 22 and 25th 2019. Condom slipped off on the second date plus she said I’d made her bleed hence possible exposure. I felt unwell about 5 days later and had emergency appointment at GUM clinic on October 30th. This result was negative. I had another appointment on 29th November which came back negative as well. And finally I had another test which I believe was at the 12 week mark and got a negative result back.
Throughout that time I had neuralgia in face, arms and legs, fatigue beyond belief and constant ache in my ear which persists to date! 2 weeks ago I discovered a hard lump which I am unsure whether it is a lymph node or something else in groin area positioned inside the gluteal cleft.
I am fed up of this situation and I have been on the phone to the GUM and they say my tests are conclusive. However I feel rather run down and unwell.
I’ve had MRI scan which came back okay. I am awaiting nerve study results. My gp did bloodwork during window period which came back all clear. What is wrong with me?!
I am wits end!

Hi At wits end, Unfortunately, since your tests were carried out elsewhere, I cannot comment on the results. If the GUM clinic have said that your results were conclusive then I would say that they were, however obviously I cannot say for sure. Your possible exposure may have been high risk but if you do not know that the individual is HIV positive, then if they are HIV negative, there of course is no risk of transmission. The symptoms of feeling unwell could be unrelated to HIV, but if they persist you can get in contact with your GP to discuss these further, or you can purchase a BioSure self-test to check your status. As your possible exposure was over 12 weeks ago and any result using the BioSure test now would be conclusive. I hope this information helps, sorry I cannot be of much more help, if your results were from using a BioSure test, I would have been able to comment on them. If you require any further info or ever need someone to talk to, my email is bsmith@biosure.co.uk. Kindest regards, Becky
