Are my tests conclusive?

Hello, I had sex with a prostitute , protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex (she gave the bj) after few weeks I had swollen lymph node is my groin under my arm pit and behind my ear. Did a vdrl elfa test after 70 days came out negative. Did an alere combo test after 84 days. So I’m also having arm pain . Are my tests conclusive?

Hi Soulindub, Since neither of these tests are ours, I am unable to comment on your result. I would recommend to get in touch with the manufacturer's of these tests to ask about their window periods etc. However, by your description of events, the estimated risk of HIV transmission via this type of exposure is around <1 in 10,000 for unprotected oral sex. Protected vaginal sex - your risk of exposure would be very low as you have used protection. The only risk would be if the condom broke or was not placed on correctly etc. Saying this, there is no knowing whether the sex worker was in fact HIV positive - although it seems very unlikely. I would recommend that if your symptoms persist, to visit your doctor or GP to get these looked at. Kindest regards, Becky, BioSURE UK LTD
