Alcohol wipes

Hi there,

I recently used one of your tests and before doing so I washed my hands then used an alcohol wipe (thinking i was doing the right thing). I then proceeded to the test. From what I remember, I pressed hard on the spot when I used the lancet. I got a good amount of blood and instead of wiping the blood away, I used the first drop of blood. My test came out as negative. Could it be that my test has been contaminated or if it was the case, the test wouldn’t show any lines? The last sexual encounter was in March. Thanks for your help.

Hi Valentine, we recommend using the test with clean dry hands. The reason we say dry hands is because water/alcohol on the skin can burst the surface tension of the blood sample meaning it would run down your finger and not be a bubble. Wiping the original drop of blood will not affect your final result. Your test would not have been contaminated due to the factors described. I hope this helps and thank you for choosing BioSure. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
