I'm scared that I might be infected

Hello, In April I had sex with this girl and found out a week after that she’s positive but I used protection the problem is I licked her genital and I’m scared that I might be infected, I went to the clinic and did some tests which came back negative 15 weeks after exposure but I’m not sure if the test is reliable or conclusive because I have exhibited a lot of symptoms that are related to HIV, like chills, headaches, fever but it only lasted 3days and some sores in my mouth and some pimples in my back and my face that leaves black spot when they have healed and still experiencing diarrhea I’m worried whether I have HIV or not. what should I do? thank you for your time.

Hi Cole, Oral sex is considered a lower risk than penetrative vaginal or anal sex as there would need to be open wounds on your mouth and your partners vagina for transmission to have occurred. There is of course still a risk but HIV is harder to acquire through these transmission routes. The symptoms you have described are similar to those experienced during HIV seroconversion but your negative result at 15 weeks is conclusive and suggests that no HIV transmission occurred. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions, please feel free to leave them below. Kindest regards, Becky
