worried about test

Hi, I have done the BioSure test over two years after my last possible exposure (partner unknown status) and it was NEGATIVE. However, I have quite a few swollen lymph nodes in neck and my blood test came with neutrophils just under normal range. Wondering if this could have been a false negative and I actually do have HIV?

Please answer 🙁

Hi worried012, It is extremely unlikely that a false negative result occurred given the time since your exposure. It is also unlikely that any symptoms you are experiencing now are related to HIV as the virus is asymptomatic (meaning the individuals will not show any signs of symptoms) following the seroconversion period. I would also say that given your last possible exposure was around 2 years ago, if you were to have been infected, it is likely that your CD4+ (WBC) count would be lower than just below normal. I hope this helps. Kindest regards, Becky
