I had a small cut on my hand

I had a small cut on my hand but I used the finger on that hand to finger a woman while we in the Shower, then later on we had sex but used a condom. Can I be infected if I had another cut on the area where my pubic hair grows even though no vagina fluid exited the vagina? My result on the BioSure rapid test was Negative after four weeks from that encounter. Should I be Worried?

Hi KS, From the description of your exposure, it is very unlikely that transmission occurred. HIV can enter through an open cut or sore, but blood from the open wound on your hand would have to come into direct contact with the mucous membrane of your partner's vagina. The risk of your open wound being exposed to HIV infection is very unlikely and there is of course a high chance that your sexual partner is not HIV positive. It is great that you have taken the initiative to test following an exposure, a negative result at 4 weeks is a good indication of your status but you must retest at 12 weeks for a conclusive result. Kindest regards, Becky
