After developing anxiety

After developing anxiety I suddenly started to worry about a relationship from 10 years ago and after Googling a symptom I had suddenly had them all or felt like I had over the years it was horrible, I’ve had two children in the last 4 years and I’m pretty sure they check for HIV at the start but still couldn’t settle, my first biosure test was negative and for a few minutes I felt relief until I noticed a red line under the blue strip at the bottom…suddenly I had so much fear even after I contacted biosure team who were amazing at reassuring me this is what they describe as a ‘smudge’ and the result was negative, I then bought a 2nd test which was a VERY clear negative and I was settled for a couple of weeks and suddenly felt the need to buy another which again was negative but again after a couple of mins of reading results also had the ‘smudge’
I do now know this is my mental health and I really need to move on, the team at biosure have been amazing, I had noone to talk to about it at all apart from them and I can’t thank them enough, I now really need to try my hardest to move on!

Hi Anxious over nothing, If your exposure was around 15 years ago and you were in fact infected, if left untreated for that long - you would be said to have AIDS and would be extremely unwell by now. If left untreated, HIV takes around 8-10 years to progress into the stage which is known as Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Antibodies would still be present in blood and the test would be able to accurately detect infection still. It is completely fine and recommended to use the first drop of blood, although it really does not matter. I hope this helps, Becky.

And it wouldn’t matter if exposure had been up to 15 years ago? Antibodies would still be there? Also I used the first drop of blood out my finger and after reading a post about someone using the 2nd drop has scared me a little
