I had unprotected oral

I had unprotected oral with a woman sex for less than 4 minutes even less. Then i stood up and went to brush my tongue, after that we continued to have protected vaginal sex. Over 20 weeks later i went for a test and the doctor told me that’s there was nothing there but to do a confirmation test which i did at another hospital and it came out negative. Do i need to get tested again cause i have been soo uneasy and that’s basically what’s been on my mind lately. I don’t think the lady has hiv but im still worried  – what should i do?

Hi Neckteck, If you have tested 20 weeks post exposure and the doctor said that your result was negative, that should have been conclusive. I am unsure of why he recommend to get a second confirmatory test done if there was nothing detected. Although we recommend to practice safe sex, including oral sex, there is a low risk associated with HIV transmission when having unprotected oral sex. Transmission via this method is uncommon and normally only occurs if the person receiving has sores or open wounds in their mouths or gums etc. Regardless, both of your negative results are accurate and you should not need to retest.
