Would the temperature of the room have any effect?

Hi i just took my test. I took it in my bathroom and had the shower running in the back. Whilst the test ran it was quite hot and a bit steamy in the room, so i opened a window (right next to where the test was) to let some cold air in. Would the temperature of the room have any effect on the test and results?

Hi Wondering001, Sorry for not replying sooner, I did not see your reply in the thread, apologies. Our test has been proven to be stable at such temperatures - as long as you received the control line then your test has worked properly and your negative result is reliable. The test line and control line are pre-sprayed onto the strip so it may be possible to almost see the shadow where the test line is positioned on the strip. Your two negative results both outside of the window period are accurate and conclusive - you do not need to retest. I hope this helps. Kindest regards, Becky

I took the BioSure HIV Self Test at 13 weeks, in my car in the parking lot and it was about 2 degrees outside. I was nervous and rushing and had trouble getting enough blood out of my cold finger. The test ran and the control line was evident (not great). The result was "negative" but I had my doubts as to whether there was a faint "positive" line. I ran another test in similar conditions at week 15, I waited 20 minutes to be sure. This time the control line was clearly pronounced, and I didn't really see any hint of a "positive" line. So, does running the test in such conditions (your cold car) decrease the test reliability? How faint could the positive line be? Or is the "positive" line as bold as the test line in a positive result? It was only about 4 degrees out while I sat in my car and ran each test. Each time the control line appeared.

Hi Paula, This should not have any affect on your result. The BioSURE HIV self test is fine to store at temperatures between 8-30°C. As long as you received your control line, your test result is accurate and reliable. Kindest regards, Becky
