Can hormonal implants cause false HIV positive results?

Can hormonal implants cause false HIV positive results in women without any possible exposure? Can an HIV rapid test kit detect antibodies that are antibodies of other infections that are not for HIV in people without any possible exposure?

Hi Lilly, Thank you for contacting BioSure. There are really only two things that can affect the result of a BioSure HIV self test. The first being on anti-retroviral treatment for HIV and the other would be if you have been vaccinated against HIV. Therefore hormonal implants would not affect your result.
