Does the positive line disappear?

Hi I did not read the instructions properly as I was very nervous I was looking at the card for the result and not the device when I finally looked at the device it was showing one line but that was over one hour after the test . Does the positive line disappear after one hour? Thanks

Hi Masika, Sometimes it is possible to see where the test line is pre-sprayed onto the strip. If the test was to detect antibodies in your blood, a test line would appear and would not disappear within the read time. If there is no test line at the 15 minutes (after performing your test) but only the single control line is visible, then your result is negative and accurate. I hope this helps to put your mind at ease. Kindest regards, Becky

Hi Guluva, If the result at 15 minutes - 1 hour (after performing your test) was positive then your boyfriend should get his result confirmed by a healthcare professional. If the test line disappeared then it may be that the result was a false positive but I would recommend that he retests as soon as possible. I hope this helps. Kindest regards, Becky

Hi Bertram11, I am so sorry for the delay with answering your question we have had some technical issues. The chances of receiving 1 false negative is very low, 2 is virtually impossible. The discoloured background could simply be that more blood sample was used the second time. I hope this helps to put your mind at rest. Kindest regards, Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd

Hi biosure, can I ask one last question. What are the odds of 2 false negatives? And after my first test the background colour was white after the second it was pinkish does that mean anything. Thanks for everything.

Hi Bertram11. You can rely on a BioSure HIV Self Test negative result 12 weeks after possible exposure. Seeing as your negatives results are more years post possible exposure these results are conclusive. You sound as though you are extremely run down and the anxiety related to your potential exposure is causing you to stress about your status. We all have many stresses in life and HIV is not one you need to worry about. A positive line can only appear in an exact place. The red at the bottom of the strip is simply migration of the blood sample and buffer solution. This is normal and nothing to worry about. The readings after 15 minutes and 1 hour are no different however you can read your test at 15 minutes. I hope this helps put your mind at rest. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd

Hi biosure, just a last couple of questions to ease my mind. Took 2 tests both negative what are the odds against 2 false negatives? On my first reading the background colour is white on the second it's kind of pinkish any consequence of this? Thanks very much for answering all my questions.

My last sexual encounter was 2years 10 months ago I took the test last week it showed negative. My second test showed negative after 15 minutes but after 1 hour a bit of a red line appeared in line with the bottom blue strip not in the position shown on the card. What is my reading :- after 15 minutes or after 1 hour? ( confused). Also recently I have had a fungal infection on my toenail and a thrush lie rash on my penis which isn't clearing after treatment. I am now terrified to go to the doctor. Should I still be confident I am not HIV? Thank you Bertram11.

Hi Bertram11, thanks for your post. No the positive line will not disappear after an hour. Although our product insert states ‘Do not read after one hour’ we have lots of independent research that evidences the result stays stable for a number of months – ie the result does not change; a positive test line will not appear or disappear over time. This is not the case with some other HIV tests, but it is for the BioSURE HIV Self Test. I hope that helps put your mind at rest and thank you for choosing BioSure. Kindest regards Francesca Bard, BioSure (UK) Ltd
