Hi Tau M, do you know if your partner was on anti-retroviral treatment? If she was and it was effective and being taken regularly, the HIV virus can be supressed to an undetectable level, which actually means the virus cannot be passed on. It is worth asking that question. Virtually all HIV tests, including the BioSURE test look for antibodies to HIV. When somebody starts to make these antibodies (called seroconversion) it is when they sometimes experience a flu-like illness, the fact that you have been ill and had symptoms means that IF you did have HIV, your body would have made the antibodies and that would give you a positive test result. As you have had two separate tests, both with negative results and you are sure they have been performed outside of the window period means it is incredibly unlikely that you have HIV. I really hope this helps to put your mind at rest. Kindest regards Francesca Bradford, BioSure (UK) Ltd
