swollen glands and night sweats

Hi, I had protected sex around 3 months ago but started getting night sweats, swollen glands and sore throat around 2 weeks later. I went to my GP who tested me positive for mono and glandular fever. I tested negative for hiv at 6 and 8 weeks. I did not get tested again at 12 weeks however, recently i have had two painful swollen glands in my right armpit, but no other symptoms. I am still worried that I might have HIV. Please help.

P.s I used an oral test for both occasions.

Hi Guest Thanks for getting in touch with us. Unfortunately, as we are not the manufacturers of any of the oral fluid tests it is difficult for me to comment specifically, as I am unsure on the performance of these tests. However, what I can say is that a negative HIV test on any device at sooner than 12 weeks should not be relied on. The negative results that you have are very encouraging but are not conclusive. Again from the symptoms and timings described the symptoms are much more likely to be associated with the other conditions than HIV. I would suggest that you test again at 12 weeks so that you can be sure of your negative HIV status. I would also suggest using a BioSURE HIV Self Test. Kind regards Gary Carpenter BioSure (UK) Limited
